Sorry, I’m Booked Again

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve taken the time to write a post and recommend some reads. In the future I’m going to try and make these a regular post, keeping my fellow book nerds updated every few months as I finish some keepers. Here are my favorites since my last post.

Subtle Art of Not Giving a Fuck by Mark Manson

After getting a very aggressive recommendation (I quote “Stop what you’re doing right now and order this book”) from my longtime friend and editor Kelsey, I did just that. I ordered it the next day. And wow, you’ll be hooked within the first few pages. Manson’s loose writing style and constant swearing had me at hello. I highly recommend this for my 20 somethings struggling to figure out what to do next. Buy it here.

Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

I bought this as a gift (for, you guessed it, my good friend Kelsey) last year for her birthday and finally got around to buying myself a copy. This is a great book for my R.M. Drake lovers. It’s a collection of short, vulnerable, beautiful pieces that rather than reading and following along, you can finger through at your heart’s content. While I usually don’t re-read books after I finish them, this is a book you can keep around and always have an itch for. Buy it here.

I’ll Tell You In Person by Chloe Caldwell

Chloe Caldwell has a brilliant way of taking flaws and dark times and making them sound beautiful and as normal as breathing. Reading about failed jobs, failed relationships, and battles against addiction made me feel oddly at peace with my own failures and struggles; and more importantly gave me hope for my own future. It feels just as good following along with her with her good times and her bad. Not only a relatable read (for some) but still funny and heartbreaking at the same time. Buy it here.

Honorable Mention:

A Field Guide to Getting Lost by Rebecca Solnit

Buy it here.
