In the past few years, I’ve slowly gone from someone who relied on store-bought medications to fix all my health problems to someone who does a little research and kicks my sick the natural way. I include a lot of superfoods in my diet to make up for not eating meat, and try to keep up with a regular supplement and vitamin-heavy routine as well. I can honestly say aside from a few dayquils and doctor-prescribed meds; I don’t think I have any typical over-the-counter meds in my house (yep, not even ibuprofen). One of my top priorities in staying healthy includes my morning vitamins (on top of a healthy diet + exercise), and I’ve partnered with Nature’s Way to showcase my three ride or dies here.
The Ashwagandha plant is a yellow-flowered small shrub native to India & North Africa. Extracts from the plant’s root or leaves are used to help a ton of different conditions; but most commonly used to help relieve stress, increase energy levels and improve concentration. Read more here.
Gotu kola is a perennial plant originating from Asian wetlands, sprouting a small white or pink flower from a fat half-mooned shape leaf. Known in large parts due to its expedited wound-healing properties, gotu kola also is used often in the culinary world. Read more here.
St. John’s Wort
It’s very convenient that a plant that helps to bring a little joy to those who take it medicinally blossoms bright five-petaled yellow flowers. I personally came across St. John’s Wort as a holistic approach to helping with my anxiety disorder, but it has other benefits as well. Read more here.
Sounds awesome right? As always, there are side effects and combinations that shouldn’t be used with these supplements. For example, I stopped taking St. John’s Wort when I realized it didn’t mix well with my birth control pill (and started it back up when I made the switch to an IUD). Make sure you read up on everything you’re putting into your body before adding anything to your regular routine and talk to your doctor with any questions. I like using Nature’s Way due to it being the first herbal brand with Non-GMO and Tru-ID certification, and it’s products have always kept me happy and healthy complimenting my regular healthcare routine.
What superfoods, vitamins, and supplements do you like to compliment your daily health regimen? Have you tried Nature’s Way?
